Elafonissos, located just 300 meters off the Peloponnesian coast near Pounta, boasts a rich 5,000-year history. Evidence of its ancient roots dates back to the Third and Second Millennia B.C. during prehistoric times. It served as a battleground during the Peloponnesian War when Athenians and Spartans clashed. From 1839 to 1850, it was under British rule, considered part of the Ionian Islands. Elafonissos is accessible via local ferry routes, covering an area of approximately 9,000 square meters and home to 750 residents.
